Book Circle: Of Poetry and Protest: From Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin

Book Circle: Of Poetry and Protest: From Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin

Read, listen and discuss the art that articulates Black experiences lived but often overlooked and unheard. These works prove that we are not living in unprecedented times, but witnessing the continuation of what is known in Black communities across the nation as, the American nightmare.

This Book Circle will be held on June 16th, June 23rd, and June 25th from 1-2pm.

Participants will receive deeper insights to Black responses to oppression, and an intimate look into the range of emotions that make up parts of the Black experience. Facilitated by Doug Smith (AACAE) and Christina Hsu Accomando (CRGS and Englsh).

If you order the book now from Northtown Books, it might be in by June 23, or you can find new and used copies of the book at Alibris.com at this LINK. We will email some PDF excerpts to participants for the first session.
