This workshop is the second in a three-part series on creating a video for the HSU Student Snapshots project. We will be learning about and trying out different equipment for shooting your video and will talk about best practices for getting the best recording. If you have developed your story idea, bring it along and we’ll brainstorm how to capture your ideas on video and in audio.

HSU Student Snapshots

HSU Student Snapshots is a project founded by faculty, staff, and students who care about the experiences of HSU students on campus and in the broader Humboldt County area. We hope to empower students to use their voice to engage with each other and with their communities by creating quick 1-minute stories that share their unique experiences in their own voice.

Your voice needs to be heard!

What have been your experiences navigating Humboldt County? In what ways do you feel--or not--like a member of the community? Your story is important and you have something to share with HSU and beyond. If you have never made a video before, this is your chance to learn how. We will be gathering these stories over the next few years; by sharing your voice, you will be helping to build an anthology of student stories, told by students themselves.

We will be screening the first Student Snapshots videos at this year’s IdeaFest on April 19th, 2018. Submit your video by April 17th, 2018 to be a part of this groundbreaking project. Learn how to create your video with the Digital Storytelling SkillShops series from March 27th to April 11th where you can also earn a videography badge.
