YA Book Circles - Social Justice in Young Adult Literature
This is a series of 4 book circles, with 4 different modern Young Adult novels. Each book explores issues of race, class, sexuality, gender identity, and/or nationality. The book circles will be a place to share thoughts and reflect on books, in an effort to destigmatize the enjoyment of YA and to understand its importance as a genre.
Session 2: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Session 3: When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore (July 13)
Session 4: The Sun is Also a Star by Nicole Yoon (July 27)
People are invited to attend any or all of the sessions and will need to read the books before the sessions. THE BOOKS ARE AVAILABLE ON RESERVE AT THE LIBRARY. Go to the checkout desk to borrow them.
