Not Your High School's Sex Ed

This session will discuss the different options someone has for birth control and help them figure out the next step to getting it, as well as communication tactics for talking to partners about barrier methods. As well discusses STI/STD harm reduction practices, testing/screening options, and communication tactics for talking to partners about barrier methods. It also includes information on reducing stigma about STIs and pleasure based sex after a diagnosis.

It is a part of the Peer Health Education CIY Skill Shops. Choose it Yourself Health Education Skill Shops are evidence based short health education sessions created by student Peer Health Educators (PHEs) with expert oversight to ensure the right information is presented in an approachable manner. All sessions have been created by students for students in conjunction with medical professionals, therapists, and or faculty on campus. They utilize the tools of activated health education, social psychological interventions, and advocacy based health education in order to empower students to be proactive about their health and wellbeing.
