Career and Curriculum Connections: Best practices in bringing career development into your courses

Our campus has been the site of many innovative efforts to help students connect their major coursework and learning outcomes to their future careers and life beyond the academy.  The Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences have been integrating career education across the college, specific to each discipline, and scaffolded at all course levels. Faculty in the Professional Studies and the Natural Resources and Sciences have also given us some excellent examples of how to integrate assignments and build courses that help students to market their time at HSU toward the professional and scientific fields. Come hear four of these faculty, from across the colleges, share their experiences and what they have learned about both the value and process of integrating career education into their curriculum, this session is designed to provide space for your own questions and insights.

Each of the following faculty will present concise, 4-5 minute, mini-presentations on their own efforts and then we will open the forum for questions and answers.

Alison Holmes: International Studies
Yvonne Doble: Social Work
Borbala Mazzag: Mathematics
Deidre Pike: Journalism and Mass Communication
