Preparing a Competitive NSF Proposal and Federal Funding Priorities

This presentation will include two parts. First, it will give practical tips for preparing a competitive NSF proposal, which is responsive to the solicitation, well-crafted, compelling, and potentially transformative. Included will be attention to all the required proposal components, from the cover page to the Budget Justification and Data Management Plan. Attention will also be given to what happens after your proposal is submitted, how to assess panel feedback, when it’s helpful and how to contact a program officer, and tips for keeping informed about NSF priorities. Second, it will provide information on emerging federal funding priorities just identified at the February 21-24, 2017 Funding Competitive Conference of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. Members of the Sponsored Programs Foundation office, who attended the conference with the Dean, will join the second half of the presentation.
